Men found alive after truck crashes through ice on Lake Winnipeg

An ice-fishing trip on Lake Winnipeg became a close call for two men who were found alive after their truck broke through the ice.

Searchers found a 54-year-old man from Grand Pointe, Man., on Lake Winnipeg late Wednesday afternoon, RCMP announced shortly before 6 p.m. local time.

A 51-year-old Winnipeg man had walked to shore and to a nearby residence, where he called for help, according to police.

"One individual who managed to find his way to a residence in the area of Patricia Beach contacted us over the phone [to] let us know that he was OK," Sgt. Paul Gilligan told CBC News.

The man also directed police to the location of his friend, "who was still on the shoreline of Lake Winnipeg in the vicinity, I believe, of Patricia Beach," Gilligan said.

Both men are getting medical attention. Police said one man is in good condition, but they could not say what condition the other man is in.

RCMP received a 911 call around 10 a.m. CT that a pickup truck had gone through the ice about three kilometres from shore near Beaconia Beach, located just north of the Patricia Beach area.

The men were on their way to go ice-fishing when their vehicle crashed through the ice, according to police.

RCMP, several fire departments and search teams organized a large rescue effort on the shore of Lake Winnipeg on Wednesday afternoon.

An hour before it was confirmed that the men had been found, rescuers on snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles were seen departing a staging area at Balsam Bay.

Component of me feels a sturdy impulse to in fact get the model, which, then again, sadly, I just can’t afford. So I think about it a superior notion to wait to get a great replica version of this. The might sound not so superior to a large number of, but actually, for those who go for the leading grade , you are to become astonished by how awesome they can be.
